Minimum Qualifications for the GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes scheduling facility maintenance services, conducting inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards, and using automated systems to maintain and update facility records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Major DutiesPlan and coordinate all work requirements to maintain patient care buildings.Perform diagnostic inspection of facility structures, related electrical and mechanical systems and equipment, and prepare necessary inspection reports and narrative assessments of facility conditions.Oversee facility management resources including personnel, service contracts, financial programs, space utilization, and information resources.Implement and evaluate programs to manage medical safety risks, fire safety risks, facility response to emergencies, and to manage risks associated with physical security, hazardous materials, and waste.Investigate, analyze, and report on mishaps and medical incidents of a generally routine nature associated with primary care services.Coordinate with other base organizations and various federal, state, and local officials to evaluate policies, procedures, and actual maintenance and repair activities and makes changes necessary for improvement.
