Job SummaryYou will serve as a PAINTER SUPERVISOR in the COATING & SERVICES SHOP (971), PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: Instructing subordinates in work methods and procedures in the proper use of tools and equipment, safe work practices, and operation of new equipment. Reading, interpreting, and correctly following complex written instructions, drawing, specification, engineering standards, and manufacture' requirements. Setting up and using pumps and spray equipment such as conventional, airless, air assisted airless, high volume low pressure, electrostatic, electrostatic powder, and plasma powder application. Planning sequence of operations for groups of employees. Participating in personnel matters including performance ratings; leave request, disciplinary and commendatory actions. Major DutiesYou will resolve working problems and take necessary corrective action to overcome delays.You will inspect work in progress to assure efficiency, economy and safety of operations.You will secure issues, oversee and advise on the use of safety equipment.You will enforce safety, fire, and other regulations and maintain good "housekeeping" in work areas supervised.
