Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Lead Health Technician (Audiology): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing basic audiologic testing or assisting patients with custom hearing devices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full academic year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Major DutiesPrioritize the hearing conservation screening schedule and audiologist diagnostic schedule and lead health technicians through daily responsibilities in support of Hearing Readiness, annual, pre-deployment, post deployment and in/out processing.Coordinate, schedule, and provide instruction for Army Hearing Program technician certification training workshops as well as reserving local course training sites.Conduct regular full life cycle management and first-echelon equipment maintenance of hearing test, noise measurement and hearing protection hardware/software systems.Assist in preparing installation, regional, and enterprise reports and metrics using several report systems in addition to other data analysis systems.Track hearing aids and custom hearing protection orders from initialization through fitting and take silicone impressions for custom hearing protection orders and hearing aids.Maintain Remote Order Entry System (ROES) access to order hearing aids, batteries and hearing aid supplies as directed by the audiologist(s).Assist in preparing, disseminating and staffing Army Hearing Division marketing, educational and informational outreach and strategic communication materials and booths.
