Job SummaryYou will serve as a SUPERVISORY INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER for the Flight Controls Branch in the AEROMECHANICS DIVISION, AIR VEHICLE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.
QualificationsIn addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized qualifications at or equivalent to the (NM-04) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent background in the private or public sector. Specialized qualifications must demonstrate some or all of the following: 1) Applying senior-level technical knowledge and executing engineering initiatives pertaining to Flight Controls systems and related engineering; 2) Serving as a technical authority in Flight Controls engineering airworthiness criteria and design standards for defense aviation platforms; 3) Delivering engineering practices and principles related to Flight Controls and Flight Critical software and hardware, including implementing design standards and test and evaluation techniques; and 4) Leading teams, presenting complex engineering concepts to leadership, and partnering across organizations to provide technology and acquisition solutions. Major DutiesYou will direct and supervise a multidisciplinary branch of approximately 45 engineers and scientists, managing performance, recruitment, resource allocation, and professional development.You will serve as the senior technical authority on flight control systems, exercising safety-of-flight decision authority for clearances, groundings, and airworthiness standards.You will oversee the engineering lifecycle of primary, secondary, and integrated flight control systems across research, acquisition, testing, and operational fleet support phases.You will deliver technical consultation and conflict resolution to program managers, leadership, and integrated program teams to resolve complex flight control challenges.You will establish and refine branch policies, engineering processes, design standards, and training programs to ensure personnel readiness, certification, and compliance.You will lead technology innovation and research integration, evaluating emerging advancements in flight-critical hardware and software to support future defense aviation platforms.
