The Service Operations manager will lead and manage the company’s field and workshop Service Technician organisation, ensuring safe, compliant and effective execution of customer service activities. The role is responsible for technician leadership, technical competence, training, resource capability, service quality, adherence to standard operating procedures and the operational application of health and safety requirements. The role should provide the principal management link between the Head of Department: Service and all technical service personnel. Which tasks will you perform? The primary Role objectives and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage all Junior, Intermediate and Senior Service Technicians. Manage Gas Measurement Service Technicians and associated specialist technical resources. Allocate operational priorities in collaboration with the Service Internal Manager and Service Coordinators. Conduct regular technician meetings, toolbox talks and operational reviews. Manage attendance, leave, standby requirements, overtime and operational availability. Own the technical competence and development plan for the Service Technician team. Maintain role-based training and competence requirements by product, service activity and industry. Coordinate Product Centre, technical and safety training. Ensure technicians are qualified and authorised before being assigned specialized work (Maintained on SFDC). Establish coaching and mentoring responsibilities for Senior technicians. Carry the formally assigned Section 16(2) responsibilities, subject to the company’s approved appointment and delegation. Ensure field and workshop activities are carried out in accordance with applicable health and safety requirements. Ensure technicians are trained, competent and appropriately authorized for assigned work. Ensure technicians understand task hazards and required precautions. Enforce operational safety discipline. Ensure risk assessments, method statements, permits, PPE and customer site requirements are understood and followed. Ensure all technicians understand and follow applicable SOPs, work instructions and service processes. Conduct field and workshop audits to verify procedural compliance. Address deviations from technical, quality and safety procedures. Ensure findings are documented and corrective actions are completed. Work with the Service Internal Operations Manager on process revisions where operational gaps are identified. Ensure customer work is executed safely, professionally and to the required technical standard. Oversee calibration, verification, maintenance, commissioning, diagnostics, repairs and technical support activities. Provide management support for difficult or escalated technical issues. Ensure technicians produce complete, accurate and timely service reports. Monitor technician utilisation and effectiveness. Review productive and unproductive hours with the Service Internal Manager. Address training, capacity, behavioural or workflow causes of poor operational performance. Monitor service quality, repeat visits, customer feedback and report quality. Support the Sales Team and maintain relationships with customers in both pre- and post-sales environment Support the Quality Department and the Technical & Metrology Manager with ISO 9001 Compliance and Internal Audit technical components What do we expect from you? National Diploma in Industrial Instrumentation or National N Diploma plus Trade Certificate in Industrial Instrumentation 3-5 years’ experience in Service environment 5-8 Years Industry or Process Automation Qualification in Management User experience and competence in data mining from Business Analytics Platform (BAP) Valid driver’s licence Valid Passport Excellent organizational, planning and scheduling skills are required Excellent administrative skills High level of problem-solving skills Proven Technical Knowledge SAP User experience Sales Force (C360) User experience Proven Negotiation skills What can you expect from us?
