About this role

Job Title: WelderJob DescriptionThis role focuses on performing welding repairs and new fabrication work on mine equipment using MIG welding, stick welding, and air arc gouging. You will contribute to maintaining and improving heavy equipment reliability while working as part of a skilled welding and fabrication team. Responsibilities • Perform MIG welding on mine equipment for both repair and new fabrication projects. • Use stick (arc) welding techniques as required for structural repairs and equipment maintenance. • Operate air arc gouging equipment to remove defective welds and prepare metal surfaces for rework. • Read and follow work instructions and job requirements to complete welding tasks safely and accurately. • Inspect welds and fabricated components to ensure quality, durability, and adherence to specifications. • Assist with general fabrication work, including cutting, fitting, and assembling metal components. • Work on a mix of indoor and outdoor welding tasks, adapting techniques to different equipment and conditions. • Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working with welding and fabrication tools. • Collaborate with team members in the shop to complete projects efficiently and meet production and maintenance schedules. • Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working order, reporting any issues or needed repairs. Essential Skills • At least 3 years of welding experience. • Proficiency in MIG welding, with the majority of work performed using MIG processes. • Experience with stick (arc) welding in a repair and fabrication environment. • Ability to perform air arc gouging for removal and preparation of welds. • Strong fabrication skills, including cutting, fitting, and assembling metal components. • Ability to work on heavy mine equipment and perform structural repairs. • Commitment to safety practices when working with welding equipment and in shop and field environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working in industrial, mining, or heavy equipment repair environments. • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. • Comfort working early morning shifts and extended workdays. • Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate within a close-knit shop environment. Work EnvironmentThis position operates on a first shift schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, providing a consistent four-day workweek. You will work in an indoor and outdoor environment that is swamp cooled, supporting comfort in warmer conditions. The role involves hands-on work with welding and fabrication equipment in a shop setting focused on mine equipment repair and fabrication, requiring appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for welding and industrial tasks. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tucson, AZ. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
