The Role

We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Lead Practitioner of Mathematics to join our dedicated team from January 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional classroom practitioner to influence teaching and learning beyond their own classroom, supporting colleagues to deliver outstanding mathematics education while driving high standards of achievement for all scholars.

Working closely with the Head of Department and senior leaders, you will play a key role in developing teaching practice, shaping curriculum delivery, and ensuring scholars receive an engaging, ambitious and highly effective mathematics education.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead and model exceptional classroom practice across the mathematics department.Support the development of high-quality curriculum planning, resources and assessment approaches.Deliver professional development and training that strengthens teaching and learning across the academy.Act as an instructional coach, providing guidance and support to colleagues to improve classroom practice.Use assessment and performance data to identify priorities and drive improvements in scholar outcomes.Contribute to quality assurance activities, including lesson visits, monitoring and evaluation.Work collaboratively with leaders to implement improvement strategies aligned with academy priorities.Build effective partnerships with colleagues, families and external organisations to enhance opportunities for scholars.What We're Looking ForQualified Teacher Status and a degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject.A highly effective classroom practitioner with a proven record of success at Key Stages 3 and 4.Strong subject expertise with a passion for mathematics and curriculum development.The ability to inspire, coach and develop colleagues to improve teaching practice.Experience of using assessment and data intelligently to improve scholar progress.High expectations of achievement, behaviour and attendance for all scholars.Excellent communication, collaboration and leadership skills.A commitment to the values, ethos and ambitions of Longsands Academy and Astrea Academy Trust.Commitment to Safeguarding and EDI:
