Job summary

Following the merge of Mid-Essex, Southend and Basildon hospitals merged to create the newly formed Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust on the 1st April 2020, We have a wonderful opportunity for clinically excellent, motivated and enthusiastic doctors to join the newly merged organisation as a Trust Grade Clinical Fellow to join our well-established Medical team based at Basildon Hospital, based within the Acute Medical Unit (AMU)/Medical SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care).

This is a full-time post at ST1/2 level and attracts 1B Banding (40%).

Main duties of the job

Your duties will involve the day-to-day responsibility for patients on the assessment wards/Medical SDEC, taking part in consultant ward rounds and ensuring that patient medical case notes are properly completed, drug prescriptions are regularly reviewed, appropriate investigates are carried out and the results acted upon - and made available for consultant ward rounds.

You will ensure that GP electronic discharge letters containing all relevant information are completed and sent in a timely manner, support the teaching of medical students, attend >60% of the formal education events including audit meetings.

You will be allocated an educational supervisor who will provide regular appraisals and be expected to adhere to Trust and Directorate policies and protocol.
