About this role

Job summary

This post will provide senior clinical and professional nursing leadership to a fully integrated NHS service based in Salisbury Hospice, within the acute hospital site, and managed within the Medical Division.

The Specialist Palliative Care service consists of a 10 bedded Hospice inpatient unit, Community and Hospital Palliative care teams working 7 days a week, Family Support and Bereavement Services and Day Services.

As a Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will take a key role in the management and leadership of the Community & Hospital Clinical Nurse Specialist Teams, as well as work together with the Senior Leadership Team to steer Specialist Palliative Care Services and influence continuous improvement within the service and across the wider Integrated Care System.

You will act as an expert professional adviser in Specialist Palliative Care, both internally and externally, lead on education, take responsibility for the clinical governance within the teams, provide clinical assessment and advice in complex situations, support the progression and performance of the team and ensure, alongside the Senior Leadership Team, our service continues to be delivered to a high standard and that all compliance requirements are achieved.

Main duties of the job

To work as an autonomous practitioner managing complex patients both within the community and hospital setting.

To provide senior leadership for the Community & Hospital Specialist Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialists and to deputise for other areas of the Hospice in the absence of other senior members of the team.

The post holder will use their clinical expert knowledge and skills to provide complex case management and advice and support to the teams they manage.

Qualifications Essential

Post-registration training in Specialist Palliative Care Minimum 2 years' experience in Senior Leadership (Band 7 or equivalent) position Expert in the field of Specialist Palliative Care, and experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care

Desirable

Non-medical prescriber or evidence of working towards it Evidence of having completed an Advanced Communication Skills Course
