Summary The Laboratory for Translational Therapeutics in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine seeks a Postdoctoral Associate with expertise in molecular biology and in vivo surgical research. The Postdoctoral Associate will support gene therapy and gene editing studies in small (murine) and large (swine) animal surgical models of cardiovascular disease. Baylor College of Medicine typically follows guidelines similar to those stipulated by the NIH for Postdoctoral Associate stipends. Job Duties Executes and assists in gene therapy studies in small and large surgical animal disease models. Acquires and analyzes physiological data relevant to the model system. Performs tissue harvest and molecular/imaging analysis (immunoblot, IF, IHC, RT-qPCR). Designs and executes gene editing and molecular cloning experiments, including vector engineering and target validation. Contributes to grant applications and manuscript preparation. Mentors rotating students. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field. No experience required. Preferred Qualifications Experience in at least one of the following is desired: ischemic cardiomyopathy, animal survival surgery, or gene therapy.
