Position Description: As a member of the Collections & Discovery department, this Coordinator of Library Operations position is responsible for managing and performing all workflows associated with e-resource processing. Responsibilities of the position include: electronic resources maintenance; serials complex copy cataloging and e-resource record management; e-book and continuing resources renewals processing; and e-book acquisition program management. Other responsibilities include performing catalog maintenance tasks; engaging in departmental catalog clean up projects; maintaining collection metrics; assisting with collection assessment; assisting Collections Librarian with library collections projects including government documents; and troubleshooting resource access issues. Duties:
• 40% - Acquire and activate library electronic resources including journals, e books, and databases. Maintain titles and packages in link resolver and create records in electronic resources management systems that include title lists, licenses, acquisitions, and statistics information. Track journal titles as they transfer from one publisher to the next to ensure continuous access. Review renewals for the journal collection. Manage e book acquisition programs including title list monitoring, inter-program coordination and reduplication, owned title management, usage reviews, expenditure monitoring, and selection data. Ensure continuous access to online collections by working with vendors in securing invoices and price quotes, registering new titles and setting up administrative accounts in vendor platforms and performing routine account maintenance tasks. • 25% - Perform complex copy cataloging of serial and e-resource records. Apply advanced knowledge of best practices and procedures in cataloging processes and metadata standards to perform cataloging workflows and solve daily workflow problems. Engage in the analysis, planning, and implementation of e-resource cataloging related projects to improve discovery of electronic resources. Oversee cataloging workflows and e-book metadata for evidence-based e-book acquisition programs. Work with cataloging team on catalog clean up and maintenance projects by performing complex copy cataloging of resources in all formats, updating catalog records to RDA standards, and updating various bibliographic, holding, and item fields to improve the access and discoverability of library resources. • 20% - Coordinate with the Collections Librarian in departmental collections management projects. This includes managing a system of retrieval and tracking of collection and acquisition metrics, performing inventories of various collections, and government documents reconciliation. • 10% - Support access to online collections by investigating and resolving content related problems reported to the unit by users or library staff. Triages technical issues using library systems expertise, and USF IT as needed. Reports back to user/library staff via online reporting system without review. • 5% - Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field with two years of work experience in a library. Appropriate college coursework may substitute for the required experience. Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree. • Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S. • SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements • A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed: • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree; • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree; • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree; • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree • Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment. • Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310. Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree. Three to four years of paraprofessional library experience related to serials. Copy cataloging experience. Familiar with Alma/Primo ILS and discovery system and library electronic resources. Microsoft Excel proficiency. Experience with OCLC Connexion, Microsoft Office. • Working knowledge of spreadsheets; Understanding of basic cataloging standards; Experience with academic library electronic resources and electronic resource management systems.
