About this role

Hybrid position completing office work from home and travelling to offices throughout the state of Indiana approximately 50% of the time. An Infection Prevention Technician in a physician office or outpatient clinic is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing infection control policies to prevent the spread of infections among patients, staff, and visitors. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, CDC, and state health department guidelines through education, surveillance, and environmental audits. Travel to physician offices will be required. The position is day shift, Monday-Friday. The key responsibilities and duties include: Surveillance & Monitoring: Identify infection risks, monitor hand hygiene compliance, and track trends in potential infections. Environmental Audits: Conduct regular rounds to ensure that patient treatment areas, exam rooms, and waiting areas are properly cleaned and disinfected. Disinfection and Sterilization: Monitor processes for the cleaning, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of reuseable medical equipment. Staff Education: Provide training and in-services to staff on infection prevention protocols, including proper PPE usage, safe injection practices, and environmental cleaning. Supply Management: Ensure appropriate supplies for infection control (PPE, sanitizer, cleaning agents) are available to staff.

• High School Diploma/GED is required. • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience. • Medical Assistant, Medical Assistant III, Sterile Processing Technician, or previous Infection Prevention Technician experience preferred. • Requires basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
