About this role

Welcome to Chrysos - Where Innovation Meets Mining Excellence

Who we are

Here at Chrysos we combine science and software to create technology solutions that are changing the global mining industry; both from a productivity and environmental impact perspective. Just like atoms and machines, we believe that everyone is different and how individuals come together is what makes us successful. Chrysos Corporation’s diverse team of scientists, engineers and industry specialists are coming together to build technologies to provide rapid, accurate and safe ore analysis for the global mining industry.

The company’s flagship technology, PhotonAssay™, steps around centuries-old chemistry-based assay methods to deliver true ‘atom-counting’ analysis for the measurement of gold and other high-value metals.

What you will do:

In the role as Maintenance Specialist, you will be providing hands-on technical support service to ensure the smooth running of Chrysos PhotonAssay™ equipment. This permanent full-time role is based in Elko / Carlin Nevada US, working on a rotating roster.

The role is suited to an early-career engineering or technical graduate with approximately 1-2 years of relevant experience who is ready to build capability in fault finding preventative maintenance, customer support and safe site operations.

• Support scheduled maintenance and servicing of PhotonAssay™ installations in Alaska under the guidance of experienced team members.

• Assist with responding to equipment breakdowns and technical issues to minimise downtime and maximise availability.

• Develop capability in troubleshooting and performance checks using phone, email and remote computer access, escalating complex issues appropriately.

• Work with support staff at Chrysos headquarters and technology partners to diagnose and resolve technical issues.

• Assist with customer training on the safe operation and routine maintenance of equipment.

• Support spares inventory management for installation sites.

• Complete maintenance, fault and spares documentation accurately and provide customer updates as required.

• Contribute to the continual improvement of maintenance and service processes for PhotonAssay™ systems.

• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new PhotonAssay™ installations.

• Prepare fault records for statistics, reporting and follow-up actions.

• Participate in Root Cause Analysis of faults to improve reliability and safety, with support from experienced team members.

• Build technical knowledge across electrical, electronic, mechanical and mechatronic systems through structured on-the-job learning.

• Consistently supporting the development of a strong WHS culture.

Who you are:

Essential

• Tertiary qualification in engineering (electrical, electronic, mechanical or mechatronic) or a closely related technical discipline.

• Approximately 1-2 years of relevant engineering, maintenance, field service, manufacturing or technical experience. Relevant internships, graduate placements or substantial practical project experience may also be considered.

• Foundational understanding of electro-mechanical equipment and an interest in developing practical fault-finding and maintenance capability.

• Strong safety mindset and willingness to learn and follow site safety requirements and procedures.

• Strong customer service orientation, problem-solving ability and critical thinking skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively, seek guidance when required and take increasing ownership as capability develops.

• Able and willing to travel and work within the US and Canada.

• Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.

• Valid rights to work in the US.

• Current Driver’s Licence and Passport.

Desirable

• Exposure to mining, mine-site operations or mineral processing environments.

• Internship, graduate or early-career experience in field service, maintenance, manufacturing or product development.

• Practical exposure to one or more of the following: electrical wiring and safety, power distribution, mechanical maintenance and repairs, basic electronics, metalworking, engineering drawing or design.

• Experience using hand tools, test equipment or diagnostic tools in a practical engineering environment.

• Familiarity with office productivity software, including MS Office Suite.
