Job Title: Production WorkerJob DescriptionThis role focuses on operating and supporting highly automated packaging and filling lines in a food and chemical manufacturing environment. You will work on dip and dressing lines, ensure products are correctly packaged and labeled, and help maintain smooth, efficient production across multiple shifts. Responsibilities • Operate and monitor packaging lines and machinery, including dip and dressing lines, to ensure consistent product flow. • Package lids, bowls, bottles, and finished goods according to established procedures and quality standards. • Inspect products and packaging for defects, accuracy, and overall quality, taking corrective action as needed. • Check labels for correctness, placement, and legibility to ensure compliance with product specifications. • Keep product flowing on the lines by clearing minor issues, organizing materials, and maintaining work pace. • Unjam lines and troubleshoot basic mechanical or flow issues to minimize downtime. • Assist with changeovers between different product lines, including staging materials and adjusting equipment settings. • Monitor packaging and filling lines for performance, safety, and quality, and promptly report any concerns. • Lift boxes onto pallets, stack product safely, and prepare loads for shipment. • Wrap pallets securely to ensure safe transport and storage of finished goods. • Use computers comfortably to verify and print orders and manage basic production documentation. • Work with EPJS and RF scanners to track materials, orders, and inventory within the production environment. • Follow all safety, cleanliness, and operational procedures on a temperature-controlled production floor. • Collaborate with team members and leads to meet production goals and maintain a smooth workflow across shifts. Essential Skills • Packaging line experience of 2–3 years in a manufacturing or production environment. • Manufacturing experience of at least 2 years in a production or general labor role. • Proven ability to operate production and packaging machinery for a minimum of 2 years. • Experience with packaging processes, including filling, labeling, and sealing. • Ability to perform staging of materials and products to support continuous line operation. • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly during the shift. • Hands-on experience with product inspections and basic quality checks. • Comfort working in food or chemical production environments (strongly preferred). • Proficiency using computers for verifying and printing orders and basic data entry. • Ability to use EPJS and RF scanners for picking, material handling, and inventory tracking. • Reliability in general production and general labor tasks, including loading and material handling. • Willingness and ability to wear steel-toed boots and follow all safety guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Background in foods or chemical manufacturing environments is preferred. • Experience with setups and changeovers on packaging or production lines. • Familiarity with material handling, picking, and staging in a smaller facility setting. • Comfort working in a three-shift operation and adapting to different shift schedules. • Strong attention to detail for inspections, labeling, and overall product quality. • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a production team. Work EnvironmentThe role is based on a normal production floor in a temperature-controlled facility with approximately 110 employees. The operation runs across three shifts: first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., second shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and third shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. The facility features cleaner common areas and a nice cafeteria where employees can purchase products at discounted rates. Machinery is highly automated, and team members work with EPJS, RF scanners, and standard production equipment. Steel-toed boots are required, and employees follow established safety and cleanliness standards throughout the production floor. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Thornton, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
