Job Title: Warehouse Worker / Material HandlerJob DescriptionThe Warehouse Worker / Material Handler supports coil preparation and crating operations by safely handling materials, following detailed work instructions, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. This role plays a key part in ensuring coils and related customer products move efficiently through batch, monorail, and crating processes while meeting quality and safety standards. Responsibilities • Follow published work instructions, quality procedures, and safety protocols at all times. • Open and close crates or containers containing coils or other customer products using appropriate tools and methods. • Inspect coils for signs of damage or conditions affecting quality assurance and quality control, and report issues promptly. • Attach identifying tags or labels to coils, or clearly mark information on crates, pallets, and other containers to ensure accurate tracking. • Read work orders or follow oral instructions from the lead person to determine which coils or containers must be moved, hung, or crated in the work area. • Secure or remove lifting attachments safely before, during, and after material handling operations. • Lift coils by hand as necessary to load or unload load bars, basket bars, or monorail hang points, using proper lifting techniques. • Operate material handling equipment, including overhead cranes and related rigging, in a safe and efficient manner as directed. • Maintain a clean and organized work area and clean equipment as instructed to support a safe and efficient operation. • Follow all safety rules and demonstrate strong safety awareness in every task performed. • Communicate effectively with supervisors, leads, and team members to coordinate work and resolve issues. • Perform other duties as assigned to support production and warehouse operations. Essential Skills • Experience with material handling in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. • Ability to perform general labor tasks, including standing for extended periods and handling repetitive motions. • Basic inventory handling and packaging skills. • Ability to safely load and unload materials, including coils and related products. • Demonstrated safety awareness and commitment to following safety protocols and procedures. • Manual dexterity and the ability to handle materials and tools accurately and efficiently. • Effective communication skills to understand and follow written and oral instructions. • Ability to operate or learn to operate overhead cranes and related rigging equipment safely. • Ability to read and understand safety instructions, work instructions, and company policies and procedures. • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward written and oral instructions. • Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. • Physical ability to regularly stand, walk, talk, and hear, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb as required by the job. • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Additional Skills & Qualifications • Three to nine months of related warehouse, manufacturing, or material handling experience and/or training is preferred. • Experience working in industrial or manufacturing environments. • Familiarity with rigging practices and overhead crane operation. • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment. • Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues with materials, processes, or equipment and escalate appropriately. • Flexibility to work second shift or other shifts as needed to support production demands. • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area and follow housekeeping standards. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a warehouse and manufacturing environment that involves working around industrial equipment, coils, and material handling systems such as monorails and overhead cranes. The position requires standing and walking for most of the shift, as well as frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. The work involves regular lifting of up to 10 pounds, frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Employees must be flexible to work a second shift and may be required to adjust hours based on production needs. The environment prioritizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures, with appropriate work attire expected for an industrial setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Louisville, KY. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
