Job Title: Janitorial Worker – 2nd and 3rd Shift (Environmental Services Attendant)Job DescriptionThe Janitorial Worker – 2nd and 3rd Shift serves as an Environmental Services Attendant, providing high-quality cleaning and sanitation services in a hospital setting. This role helps create a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff by maintaining cleanliness in all assigned areas and following established safety and hygiene standards.Responsibilities
• Clean offices, patient and resident rooms, dorms, classrooms, schools, common areas, lavatories, halls, food service areas, and other assigned spaces to maintain a sanitary and orderly environment. • Sweep, mop, scrub, and polish floors, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office spaces to ensure surfaces remain clean and presentable. • Perform hard-surface floor care, including scrubbing, stripping, and refinishing, as well as carpet care such as spotting and extraction using mechanical equipment when required. • Participate in the maintenance of wood floors, including cleaning, screening, stripping, sanding, and refinishing, such as in gymnasiums or similar spaces when applicable. • Clean light fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows, and window coverings to maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility. • Use cleaning chemicals properly and safely in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and established standards. • Empty trash and garbage containers and ensure waste is disposed of safely and efficiently. • Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and materials to ensure adequate inventory for daily operations. • Change sheets and replenish linens in designated areas as needed. • Perform routine equipment maintenance and make minor repairs on cleaning equipment when required. • Drive a golf cart or other facility vehicles if needed to support environmental services operations. • Move furniture and set up tables and chairs for events, meetings, or room reconfigurations. • Notify the supervisor promptly regarding any maintenance needs, repairs, or additions observed during daily work. • Comply with all safety and risk management policies and procedures at all times while performing job duties. • Report all accidents and injuries in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with company procedures. • Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training sessions, and hazard assessments to support a safe work environment. • Apply all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned tasks and work practices. Essential Skills
• Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or environmental services work, or in roles such as janitor, custodian, home health aide, server, bartender, or waitress where cleanliness, service, and attention to detail are important. • Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and follow manufacturer and company safety guidelines. • Capability to operate floor care and carpet cleaning equipment, including scrubbers, buffers, and extractors, or willingness to learn. • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, push, and pull while performing cleaning and floor care tasks for the duration of the shift. • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established cleaning procedures and safety standards. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a hospital environment. Shifts open on 2nd shift (3:00 pm to 11:30 pm) and 3rd shift (11pm to 7:30pm). The schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs require. Work involves frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating floor care and cleaning equipment in patient areas, offices, corridors, and common spaces. The dress code includes black pants (no denim, sweatpants, yoga pants, or spandex), black slip-resistant shoes, and black socks. Hair must be of a natural color. A uniform shirt is provided. The setting emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and adherence to strict hygiene and safety standards typical of a modern healthcare facility. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, PA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.19 - $18.19/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
