About this role

Job Title: WelderJob DescriptionThis role focuses on structural welding on heavy steel I-beams using .045 and 1/16" wire, with additional fabrication work as needed. You will interpret blueprints, weld to established standards, and contribute to a variety of steel fabrication projects ranging from residential handrails and custom tables to large, complex steel structures. Responsibilities • Perform structural welding on heavy steel I-beams using .045 and 1/16" wire in accordance with applicable standards. • Carry out MIG welding and related processes to produce high-quality, structurally sound welds. • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to understand project specifications and welding requirements. • Execute fabrication tasks, including fitting and assembly of steel components for residential handrails, custom tables, juice bar designs, and large steel structures. • Inspect welds and fabricated components to ensure they meet quality, safety, and structural standards. • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work area in a clean, safe, and operational condition. • Collaborate with team members to plan and complete projects efficiently while meeting deadlines. • Follow shop procedures and safety practices throughout all welding and fabrication activities. Essential Skills • Recent hands-on experience performing structural welding on heavy steel components. • Proficiency with MIG welding processes, including use of .045 and 1/16" wire. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately. • Capability to weld and fabricate according to established standards and specifications. • Experience with steel fabrication, including fitting, assembly, and inspection of welded structures. • Comfort working primarily in a welding role with fabrication responsibilities as needed. • Ability to work independently and start contributing quickly with minimal supervision. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Current or previous WABO welding certification is strongly preferred. • Recent experience in structural welding on heavy steel I-beams is an advantage. • Graduates from welding programs with current structural welding certifications are encouraged to apply. • Experience in a steel fabrication shop environment is beneficial. • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, structurally sound welds. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of custom fabrication projects. Work EnvironmentYou will work in a small steel fabrication shop located in a newly established facility, operating in a former industrial building that has been updated for modern fabrication needs. The shop handles a wide range of projects, including residential handrails, custom tables, juice bar designs, and multi-million-dollar steel structures, providing exposure to both custom, detailed work and large-scale structural fabrication. The environment is hands-on and production-focused, with welding and fabrication equipment in regular use and a practical, shop-appropriate attire expected for safety and comfort. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodburn, OR. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
