Job Title: EDM OperatorJob DescriptionThe EDM Operator sets up and operates electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment, including wire, sinker, and hole drill machines, to manufacture precision metal components. This role involves interpreting blueprints, work instructions, and specifications, selecting appropriate tooling and machine parameters, and ensuring parts meet strict tolerances and surface finish requirements. The EDM Operator closely monitors machining processes, performs adjustments as needed, and collaborates with engineering and quality teams to resolve issues and continuously improve processes.Responsibilities
• Set up and operate electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment, including wire, sinker, and hole drill machines, to produce precision metal components. • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and specifications to determine machining requirements and ensure accurate part production. • Select appropriate tooling, electrodes, and machine parameters to achieve required tolerances and surface finishes. • Monitor machining processes, make necessary adjustments, and optimize settings to maintain efficiency and part quality. • Inspect finished parts using measurement instruments to verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes meet quality standards. • Perform routine maintenance on EDM machines to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards. • Work closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot machining challenges and refine setups and processes. • Collaborate with quality teams to address nonconformances, implement corrective actions, and improve overall product quality. • Follow established work instructions and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with internal standards. Essential Skills
• Proven experience operating electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment such as wire, sinker, or hole drill machines. • Strong machine operating skills with the ability to set up and run CNC/EDM equipment independently. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications accurately. • Proficiency using measurement tools and instruments to inspect parts and verify dimensional accuracy. • Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining principles and precision manufacturing. • High attention to detail to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and quality requirements. • Capability to perform routine maintenance on EDM machines and identify basic equipment issues. • Ability to follow standardized processes and documentation while maintaining consistent quality. • Experience working with EDM machines in a precision manufacturing environment. • Familiarity with selecting electrodes, tooling, and machine parameters for different materials and applications. • Comfort collaborating with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve processes. • Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting machining and dimensional challenges. • Background in machine operating or related technical role within a climate-controlled facility. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Erlanger, KY. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
