Job Title: Blending OperatorJob DescriptionThe Blending Operator plays a key role in food production by operating blending and processing equipment, accurately measuring and documenting ingredients, and supporting plant quality and safety standards. This position works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and requires strong attention to detail, adherence to food safety and hygiene requirements, and the ability to operate a variety of production and material handling equipment. Responsibilities • Operate blending systems, product transfer systems, and cleaning (CIP) systems in accordance with approved procedures. • Accurately measure and add ingredients to the blending system following approved blending instructions and recipes. • Document all pertinent material information, including lot numbers, quantities, and locations, on the appropriate forms with a high level of accuracy. • Operate laboratory equipment to test finished batches and verify that products meet required specifications. • Operate material handling equipment such as lift trucks, drum dollies, and other tools as needed to support the blending process. • Provide general support to plant production and quality activities as assigned by plant leadership. • Perform basic troubleshooting of blending and CIP systems to resolve minor issues and maintain continuous operation. • Conduct basic preventative maintenance on blending and CIP systems to help ensure reliable performance and minimize downtime. • Perform advanced troubleshooting of blending and CIP systems when required to address more complex operational issues. • Operate processing systems and monitor critical control points (CCPs) to maintain product safety and quality. • Adhere strictly to all food manufacturing and safety requirements, including maintaining excellent personal hygiene habits. • Follow established safety procedures at all times to protect yourself, coworkers, and equipment. • Work collaboratively across multiple departments, fostering cross-functional engagement to meet production and quality expectations effectively. • Support inventory requirements and adjustments by following established processes and maintaining accurate records, as directed. Essential Skills • 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, with exposure to food production or food manufacturing processes. • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. • Comfort and competence in using basic digital devices such as computers, tablets, and iPads to follow instructions and record data. • Ability to follow safety procedures consistently and work safely in a manufacturing environment. • Ability to speak, read, and write in English and comprehend simple instructions, procedures, and safety information. • Physical ability to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that involve standing, climbing, bending, and other physical movements throughout the shift. • Ability to operate and work around basic manufacturing equipment, blending machines, mixing machines, filling machines, packing line machines, cappers and sealers, sleeve labelers, wrap labelers, palletizers, and material handling equipment. • Comfort working in a food production and batching environment with strict hygiene and quality standards. • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and function effectively in a team-oriented environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Understanding of inventory requirements and adjustments in a manufacturing setting is preferred. • Familiarity with basic manufacturing equipment and processes is preferred. • Experience with food production, food manufacturing, batching, mixing, and blender operation is beneficial. • Ability to use measuring tools accurately to support precise ingredient measurement and blending. • Capability to perform basic and advanced troubleshooting of blending and CIP systems is an advantage. • Experience operating material handling equipment, such as lift trucks and drum dollies, is helpful. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and recordkeeping. • Willingness to work fixed shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule and maintain consistent performance in a repetitive production environment. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a food manufacturing facility that requires full personal protective equipment (PPE) and strict adherence to hygiene and safety standards. The environment can become very hot at times, and work is performed on the production floor around blending, mixing, filling, packing, capping, labeling, palletizing, and material handling equipment. The position follows a fixed 2-2-3 schedule on either 1st shift (7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.) or 2nd shift (7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.), and employees do not rotate between shifts. Over a 14-day cycle, each employee works 7 days and has 7 days off, with Week 1 consisting of work on Monday and Tuesday, off Wednesday and Thursday, and work on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (48 hours), and Week 2 consisting of off Monday and Tuesday, work on Wednesday and Thursday, and off Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (36 hours). The role requires wearing appropriate PPE, working on your feet for extended periods, and performing repetitive physical tasks in a busy production setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
