Job Title: Finishing TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Finishing Technician plays a critical role as the final step in the trailer manufacturing process, ensuring each trailer is fully assembled, safe, and ready for shipment. Working on trailers received from the paint department, this role focuses on installing key components such as wiring, hydraulic lines, decals, axle assemblies, and brake systems using kit-based instructions and standard tools. You will work in a two-person team on the finish line, contributing to high-quality workmanship and reliable finished products.Responsibilities
• Receive painted trailer structures and complete final assembly before shipment. • Install brake lines, airlines, rubber hoses, and wiring components following a kit assembly list and standardized procedures. • Install and connect lights, stickers, decals, and reflectors on trailers to meet safety and quality standards. • Screw and secure axles onto the base of the trailer using appropriate tools and techniques. • Use basic hand tools and power tools, including pneumatic tools, to perform assembly tasks efficiently and safely. • Remove and clean hubs as part of the air brake system service process. • Replace slacks, chambers, brake shoes, bearings, bushings, and used hubs as required. • Torque bearings using proper torque procedures to ensure safe and reliable operation. • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately, including kit lists and assembly guidelines. • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including regular sweeping and general housekeeping. • Work collaboratively in a two-person team on the finish line to complete trailers on schedule. • Consistently lift and move components weighing 50 pounds or more as part of daily tasks. Essential Skills
• 1–2 years of consistent job tenure in manufacturing, assembly, or a related hands-on environment. • Proficiency with basic hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and sockets. • Proficiency with power tools, including drills and other powered equipment. • Ability to use pneumatic tools safely and effectively. • Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds on a consistent basis. • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with assembly work. • Ability to follow detailed instructions, kit lists, and standard operating procedures. • Comfort working as part of a two-person team on a production line. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience with electrical wiring in an industrial or automotive setting. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings. • Experience or knowledge of welding, particularly spot welding. • Experience as an air brake technician or mechanic, including experience with hubs, slacks, chambers, brake shoes, bearings, and bushings. • Understanding of proper torque procedures for bearings and related components. • Previous experience in trailer, automotive, or heavy equipment assembly. The setting is hands-on and production-focused, using basic hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools to assemble and service trailers. The atmosphere is laid back, with music commonly played in the facility, while maintaining a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and teamwork. The work involves regular lifting of heavy components, standing for extended periods, and working around industrial equipment in a typical shop-floor environment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bridgman, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
