Job summary

We have a rare opportunity for an Deputy Reception Team Leader to join our team at The Robert Darbishire Practice (RDP), which is one of 3 practices operated by Better Health MCR. The Robert Darbishire Practice has two sites: the largest is in Rusholme Health Centre and there is a branch at The University of Manchester, in Crawford House on Booth Street East.

The Robert Darbishire Practice is one of the largest GP practices in Greater Manchester and as Deputy Reception Team Leader you will play a pivotal role in its day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for ensuring that the service received by our patients reflects our core values of care and curiosity to deliver high standards of customer service.

Main duties of the job

The Deputy Reception Team Leader is responsible for assisting the Reception Team Leader in the management of the reception team of The Robert Darbishire Practice, including the University GP Service Branch. They will support the Reception Team Leader in the day-to-day team operations to ensure the smooth operation of the reception service. They will help to ensure that the reception team are well-trained, supported and well-organised so that they provide an efficient and effective service to our patients and clinicians, offering the highest level of customer service.

The postholder works with the Office Manager and Reception Team Leader to ensure the achievement of our aims and objectives and the efficient, effective and financially-sustainable running of the service as a whole. In particular, the postholder must ensure that we deliver a responsive, patient-centred reception service, which reflects our core values of care and curiosity.

The postholder will also be required to work as part of the Reception Team to provide the practices front-of-house service, including welcoming patients and visitors, understanding and interpreting patients needs, resolving queries where possible or signposting patients to the appropriate service or appointment.

Our patients are very diverse and include established communities as well as new communities from all over the world. We have good links with the University and a sizeable student population.

Our staff team of about 140 people has a huge range of fantastic skills and experience. Our shared (ARRS) staff are fully integrated into our services, providing a seamless service for patients.

The post is full time (37.5 hours per week) and will be mostly based at The Robert Darbishire Practice in Rusholme Health Centre, although you will need to be able to travel to our other sites if needed. The usual working hours are 10:00-18:30, Monday to Friday.

Salary will be in the range £27,581 to £30,827 depending on experience (pro rata to full time of 37.5 hours per week). We offer membership of the NHS Pension Scheme and 5.4-6.6 weeks' holiday (depending on NHS service) plus bank holidays (pro rata). Person Specification

Personal Skills and Abilities Essential

A friendly and approachable manner, with good people skills, showing understanding, care and assertiveness when appropriate. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both verbal and written) with a wide range of individuals. The ability to be well-organised and prioritise work. A conscientious approach and commitment to working in an adaptable and flexible manner. The ability to work calmly and effectively and deal with multiple demands even when busy. The ability to cope with occasional exposure to challenging behaviour, distressing circumstances or emotional events. The ability to deal with personal information sensitively and respect people's right to confidentiality. The ability to work positively as a member of a busy team. The ability to give good and regular attendance. A commitment to support the delivery of the best possible service to a diverse inner-city population.

Experience Essential

The ability to produce accurate and thorough work, including alphabetical filing. Experience of using computers, with good keyboard skills.

Desirable

Experience of dealing with the general public. Administrative or clerical experience.

Qualifications Essential

A good standard of grammar and spelling in the English language. General education to GCSE level or equivalent. You must be eligible to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role, and there is a significant training period. Therefore you must meet one of the following requirements: British or Irish citizen, or, indefinite leave to remain in the UK. If you are a British or Irish citizen, state that, and otherwise state your visa status.

Desirable

Training or qualifications in customer service, IT or other related areas.
