About this role

Job summary

Join our specialist Learning Disability Inpatient Service in Bradford, supporting people across West Yorkshire and Barnsley. Based at Lynfield Mount Hospital, you'll help deliver high-quality care within an innovative regional partnership service.

We are seeking compassionate Registered Nurses with at least 2 years' post-registration experience who are ready to develop their leadership skills in a specialist learning disability setting.

You will support ward operations, provide clinical leadership, supervise and develop staff, promote person-centred care, contribute to service improvement and work closely with the multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for professionals who are passionate about improving outcomes for people with learning disabilities, committed to safe and effective care, and able to inspire others through positive leadership.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

o Supporting the Ward Manager with day-to-day ward managemento Providing visible clinical leadership and role modellingo Coordinating person-centred care and positive patient outcomeso Supervising, developing and supporting nursing and support staffo Managing staffing resources to ensure safe care deliveryo Promoting learning, reflective practice and continuous improvemento Supporting recruitment, induction and staff developmento Ensuring compliance with Trust policies, safeguarding and professional standardso Supporting incident, complaint and risk management processeso Working closely with patients, families, carers and partner agencieso Participating in audits, quality improvement and service development projectso Supporting evidence-based practice and high clinical standardso Managing complex situations, risk and positive behaviour support planso Deputising for the Ward Manager when requiredo Contributing to training, supervision and service-wide development

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

RMN, RGN, RNLD NMC Registered

Desirable

Teaching (clinical practice) qualification/certificate or equivalent experience

Experience Essential

Experience of taking charge of a team and multi-disciplinary team working. Experience of providing teaching and education to staff. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and mental health. Clinical experience including experience of risk assessment, assessing patients and creating/implementing and evaluating care plans etc.

Desirable

Involvement with innovation in Nursing Practice. Management Experience of Ward/Department.

Skills Essential

Excellent communication skills (verbal, and written) with the ability to persuade, motivate, facilitate discussions and mediate. Ability to use judgement to make decisions and resolve problems and issues Excellent ability to engage a diverse range of individuals who experience recurrent, complex and severe difficulties, and to develop effective therapeutic relationships with them
