WE'RE LOOKING FOR DEDICATED BAND 2 HEALTH CARE SUPPORT WORKERS TO JOIN US ON A FULL TIME, PERMANENT BASIS!

We are seeking caring and motivated individuals to join our Adult Mental Health Acute & Specialist Care Service as Health Care Support Workers. You will work under the supervision of registered healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients at Airedale Centre for Mental Health and Lynfield Mount Hospital.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to support adults experiencing acute mental health needs and contribute to a safe, therapeutic environment.

This post involves a 24-hour service rota, including long days, nights, and weekends.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an in-person assessment centre at New Mill, Saltaire.

Main duties of the job

As a Health Care Support Worker in Acute Care Service, you'll play a key role in delivering compassionate, person-centred care. Your duties include:

Personal Care: Supporting patients with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and emotional wellbeing while respecting dignity and privacy. Clinical Support: Assisting with observations, emergency procedures, and therapeutic interventions under supervision. Admissions & Discharges: Helping with patient transitions and maintaining accurate records. Communication: Engaging effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, upholding confidentiality and professionalism. Documentation: Recording patient information and supporting admin tasks. Teamwork: Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to maintain a safe, supportive ward environment. Patient Engagement: Supporting patients on leave and during daily activities like shopping, cooking, and appointments. Safety & Safeguarding: Promoting safety and reporting concerns per Trust policy. Flexibility: Working across wards and adapting to service needs. Supportive Role: Assisting with new staff induction and quality improvement. Closing Date: 27th Sep 26

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

NVQ2 training or equivalent experience.

Desirable

NVQ 3 or above in care or modules relevant to the area. Experience of the speciality area (Mental Health)

Experience Essential

Working in a caring environment (professionally or at home) Experience of dealing with the public.

Desirable

Able to evidence working in a caring environment or worked in a voluntary position.

Skills Essential

Ability to work as part of a team. Effective patient/client care skills. Excellent verbal and written. communication skills. Evidence of numeracy and literacy skills

Attitude/Approach Essential

Motivation to meet the patients needs for self and others. Ability to demonstrate confidentiality and trustworthiness and remain calm in highly charged situations
