Job summary
The secretarial team work fairly autonomously but also form part of the wider practice team of clinicians and admin staff. We are keen to replace a member of staff who is leaving as soon as possible. This will be a 16 hour 4 day a week role and is a permanent post. The shift pattern will be afternoons only.
Main duties of the job
The main function is to support the clinicians and management with secretarial tasks involving patient NHS and private referrals, typing of reports for other health & social care organisations and liaison with health care colleagues and patients in order to facilitate care.
Empathy, tact and diplomacy are required for interactions with patients and their carers both face-to-face and over the 'phone.The team also rely on high quality interpersonal communication and teamwork to meet NHS targets individually and collectively.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Previous secretarial experience and advanced use of Microsoft packages. Experience of or the proven ability to manage sensitive situations dealing sympathetically with patients' concerns.
Desirable
Experience of working in a GP practice. Experience using ERS and SystemOne.
Experience Essential
Good standard of education standard grades at Grade A-C or equivalent, including maths and English. Excellent written and oral communication skills both face to face and over the 'phone. Effective time management and ability to prioritise workload. Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure. Attention to detail and accuracy important as is the need for absolute confidentiality. Ability to work without direct supervision as well as part of a team. Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, empathy, confidence, tact and diplomacy.
Desirable
Experience in a GP/hospital medical secretarial role. Knowledge of medical and/or medication related terminology. Thorough working knowledge of SystemOne and/or Choose & Book (eReferral). Minute taking and shorthand skills an advantage.
