About this role

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Nurse to join our dedicated oncology nursing team in the Oncology Outpatients Clinics at Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital.

The Oncology Outpatient Clinics see a wide variety of patients with different types of cancer. This includes gastrointestinal (upper and lower), breast, hepato-pancreatico-biliary, endocrine, gynaecological, lung, brain, urological malignancies and GTD.

In this pivotal role, you will deliver expert, patient-centred care to patients, ensuring the highest standards of practice in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code and Trust guidelines.

This role includes supporting the smooth running of the clinics and undertaking specialist nursing procedures such as post surgery wound care, administration of injections and working in the phlebotomy room undertaking venepuncture, cannulation and CVAD care.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated nurse who is passionate about oncology care and has an interest in Outpatient Nursing. They should be enthusiastic, hardworking, kind and compassionate and should be able to work well independently and as part of a team.

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. The post will cover both Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital Oncology Outpatient Clinics.

Main duties of the job

Should be flexible to work across two sites - Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital To develop the specialist skills and knowledge required within the nursing oncology field To ensure effective operational management of outpatient clinics, ensuring standards are monitored and maintained/improved. To respond to patients, relatives and carers concerns as they arise and take remedial action as required. Mentor and supervise junior staff, fostering a positive learning environment. Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives, including audits and risk management. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team to enhance the patient experience.
