About You
Holds a recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification and is registered with the HCPC. Must have completed NQT competencies Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Embraces and promotes equality, diversion and inclusion in every aspect of their work.

Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Team Leader, some of your responsibilities will include:
To assess and evaluate children referred to Speech and Language Therapy, and their communication context.
To develop appropriate communication targets and interventions for children with speech and language needs.
To mentor parents, teaching staff and other carers in skill building communication and the development of nurturing language learning environments for children with speech and language needs.
To provide information and advice to others regarding the management and care of children with communication difficulties.
To evaluate therapy outcomes.

Qualifications Essential
Relevant professional qualification (1st degree level or equivalent) Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists and Health Professions Council Must have completed NQT competencies
Desirable
2:1 at degree level / distinction at Masters level
Experience Essential
Experience of working with children with speech, language and communication difficulties. This includes pre-qualification experience and also experienced gained whilst on student placement. Experience of working with relatives and carers.
Desirable
Experience working as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with children with communication difficulties. Experience of providing advice on client management to other health professionals, carers and non-specialist health colleagues. Experience of working in educational settings.
Knowledge and Skills Essential
Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions appropriate for including those with complex needs. Knowledge of Education Health Care Plans and SEN processes. Knowledge of professional and clinical guidelines relevant to the client group. Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance, audit and required standards of record keeping. Understanding of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group).
