An exciting opportunity has arisen, for an experienced and committedFamily Support & Bereavement Services Managerat St Andrews Hospice Grimsby.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management, development and coordination of the Family Support, Spiritual Care and Bereavement Service teams. They will support staff, volunteers and students to deliver effective emotional, practical, social, spiritual care, and bereavement support. The role will ensure the delivery of high-quality, compassionate and person-centred support for patients, families, carers and those affected by bereavement. The post holder will also be expected to hold a caseload relevant to qualification and expertise.
You will require a post graduate qualification in Social Work, Counselling, Chaplaincy, Health & Social Care, or other relevant discipline and be registered/ accredited with the appropriate professional body.
Main duties of the job
Our Family Support & Bereavement Service provides specialist and therapeutic counselling to children, young people and adults, who have been bereaved through a death by any means, using individual, group and family techniques as appropriate. This service is continually growing and trying innovative ways to meet the needs of a diverse group of individuals.
As the manager of this service, we are looking for an individual who has experience in developing and coordinating services and who is passionate about delivering high quality to support to people at their most vulnerable.

Job description Job responsibilities
To lead and manage the Family Support, Bereavement Support and Spiritual Care teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compassionate and person-centred support for patients, families, carers and those affected by bereavement.
To act as a lead practitioner for the Social Work, Spiritual Care and Bereavement Service, communicating and co-ordinating staff, volunteers and resources whilst utilising management skills in an effective manner, providing expert skilled assistance that reflect the aims and philosophy of the Hospice, working alongside key partners in delivering of services.
To contribute to the shaping and development of the Family Support, Bereavement Support and Spiritual Care Services.
To contribute to a co-ordinated and efficient service, having an understanding of all departments, reflecting the aims and philosophy of Hospice care.
The post holder will be responsible for the operational management, development and coordination of these services, supporting staff, volunteers and students to deliver effective emotional, practical, social and spiritual care in line with the values of St Andrew's Hospice. They will also be expected to hold a caseload relevant to qualification and expertise.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Significant experience working within health, social care, counselling, bereavement, psychosocial support or palliative care services. Experience of managing or supervising staff and/or volunteers. Experience of multidisciplinary team working. Experience of safeguarding children and adults. Experience of service development and quality improvement. Experience of dealing with sensitive, complex and emotionally challenging situations.
Desirable
Experience of managing multiple services or teams. Experience of managing people Experience within palliative care or hospice services.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualities Essential
Understanding of family-centred, bereavement and spiritual care. Knowledge of palliative and end of life care principles. Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice. Understanding of regulatory Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberties Knowledge of assessment, care planning and review process and pathways. Management of people, the ability to influence change Good interpersonal skills and team working skills Confident in using information technology and electronic patient records (SystmOne) Effective time management skills and the ability to organise own work without direct supervision Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Qualifications Essential
Post graduate qualification in Social Work, Counselling, Chaplaincy, Health & Social Care, or other relevant discipline. Registration with an appropriate professional body where applicable. Evidence of continuing professional development. Full UK driving license and have access to own vehicle.
Desirable
Leadership or management qualification or willing to work towards Clinical supervision qualification.
