About the Role

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking to recruit 2 Junior Clinical Fellow (F2 equivalent) to join the ENT Tier 1 rota.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a busy ENT service, providing essential frontline care across inpatient, emergency, and elective pathways. The roles are primarily service-driven posts designed to support safe rota delivery, improve patient flow, and enhance training capacity within the department.

Main duties of the job

Participate in the ENT Tier 1 on-call rota, including nights and weekends Assess and manage acute ENT presentations in ED, wards, and on-call settings Support inpatient care and ward rounds Assist in theatre and elective activity where appropriate Contribute to patient safety, clinical governance, and audit

Job description Job responsibilities

Participate fully in the ENT Tier 1 rota, including nights and weekends (1:8)

Day time on calls and long days

Assess and manage acute ENT presentations in the Emergency Department, SDEC (Same day Emergency Care), wards, and via GP referrals on calls

Support inpatient ward care, including daily ward rounds and patient reviews

Assist in theatre and elective activities where appropriate

Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure timely documentation

Escalate appropriately to senior medical staff

Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement activity

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GMC REGISTRATION MBBS or equivalent

Desirable

Intercalated Degree / ALS Certification

Experience Essential

Completion of foundation year 1 Experience equivalent to Foundation year 2 level. Clinical experience in ENT

Desirable

Previous ENT/ Surgical experience

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Essential

Evidence of effective team and multidisciplinary working Ability to assess and manage acutely unwell patients.
