About this role

Job summary

This 6-12 month Senior Clinical Fellowship is aimed at senior orthopaedic trainees who have achieved certificate of completion of specialist training (CCST) or equivalent, who wish to advance their knowledge and understanding of adult Limb Reconstruction Surgery in a high-volume tertiary referral centre that treats a broad variety of complex acquired and congenital pathologies with a wide variety of surgical and non-surgical treatments.

Main duties of the job

The Fellow will gain clinical experience in all aspects of Limb Reconstruction Surgery, including combined orthoplastic clinics and orthoplastic operating. The role includes coordinating weekly clinical responsibilities for the team of junior doctors and managing the weekly MDT meetings. Additionally, it is expected that the Fellow will work collaboratively to advance and develop research projects within the department, in order to produce a minimum of one peer reviewed publication during the period of the Fellowship.

Job description Job responsibilities

The Senior Clinical Fellow post will be based in the elective centre at Broadgreen Hospital and the major trauma centre at Aintree Hospital. Daily work will be varied and include responsibility for coordinating the junior doctor team, providing care for both inpatients and outpatients within these hospitals, preparation for MDT meetings, active participation in outpatient clinics, elective and trauma theatre sessions and research responsibilities. We will encourage the fellow to develop their clinical and operative skills under consultant supervision across a wide variety of cases.

Qualifications Essential

FRCS(Orth) OR equivalent Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training or equivalent (Trauma & Orthopaedics)

Postgraduate degree or high-level research experience

Experience Essential

Completed Specialty Training in Trauma & Orthopaedics (or equivalent) Experience in the management of major trauma and limb reconstruction pathology (or equivalent) Completion of deformity analysis course
