About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has presented for a self-motivated, proactive and hard working individual to join our team in St Thomas' inpatient dispensary.

The post-holder will work closely with other Senior Assistant Technical officers to help provide core support to dispensary staff, demonstrate comprehensive communication and assist in the dispensing of medicines to in-patients and the supply of discharge medications in line with CQC standards.

Please note the interview will be conducted using a progressive transparent interview process. Some interview questions will be sent in advance to applicants - with the aim to be truly inclusive as we recognise some of the barriers that interviews create.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of a Senior Assistant Technical Officer;

Assisting with reception and phone duties Answering and resolving complex queries from doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals Dispensing inpatient and Discharge medications Dispensing controlled drugs using our controlled drug omnicell cabinet Basic understanding of controlled drug medication and legalities Returning/ Discarding of medication following procedures Ordering, monitoring and stocking the Dispensary appliances daily Dispensary stock checks Rotation of stock to ensure minimal stock loss Omnicell cabinet counts for ward stock/Departments Dispensing of inpatient and discharge medication

Skills Essential

Demonstrated ability to work to set procedures SOP's accurately Demonstrated ability to work as a team Demonstrated ability to dispense accurately including basic mathematical prescriptions Demonstrated ability to organise their own workload

Previous Experience Essential

Previous experience working in a Pharmacy

Desirable

Previous experience in Stock control

Knowledge/Qualifications Essential

Maths/English/Science GCSE level A-C NVQ/QCF level 2

Desirable

BTEC science/A level sciences NVQ/QCF level 3 in appropriate units
