Based at York Hospital, this role offers the chance to lead and manage adult AHP surgery services across York and Scarborough Hospitals, within the Surgery Care Group. The services span critical care, inpatient surgical wards and outpatient settings, giving you a diverse and impactful scope of practice. Those managed by the AHP Team Manager are registered Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and non-registered Therapy Assistants.
Main duties of the job
You will take a pivotal role in leading and developing your teams, with responsibilities including staff management, recruitment, induction, appraisal, and delivery of local training. You'll also drive service improvement and innovation, ensuring high-quality patient care at all times. Operationally, you will oversee shift coordination, workload allocation and rota planning. You'll be well supported by a network of experienced team managers, alongside expert clinical guidance from Advanced Clinical Specialists, Clinical Leads and Heads of Profession.
You will hold a relevant degree (or equivalent) and be registered with the HCPC. You'll bring a broad range of post-registration experience, including experience within a relevant clinical area and at a senior level, with responsibility for leading or supporting others.
You will be confident in developing staff, supporting skill enhancement, and managing complex discharges. A strong understanding of complex care within the NHS environment will be highly advantageous.

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge Essential
Broad range of post graduate experience within relevant clinical settings. This should include working at a senior level with some responsibility for other team members. Post graduate experience in managing a wide range of conditions, evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations. Ability to act as a patient advocate. Ability to support others in skills development eg clinical workload, complex discharge planning, time management, caseload management, prescription of specialist equipment. Active contribution to audit. Evidence of clinical, organizational and managerial knowledge- including ability to undertake more complex problem solving in these areas. Experience of working with patients who have multi pathology presentations. Experience of taking a lead role within a Team. Ability to pass on specialist skills/knowledge to others within both formal and informal environments. Experience as Clinical supervisor to graduate level students. Knowledge of workplace and clinical risk evaluation and management.
Desirable
Recognised post graduate training within specialist area. Appropriate validated clinical courses within specialisms. Relevant MSc modules within relevant clinical field. State registration with relevant professional body understanding of professional direction/support available. Membership of appropriate clinical support or network group. Experience of working in a client-driven/NHS environment.
Qualifications and Training Essential
Diploma/Degree in relevant profession Health Profession Council Registration. Evidence of relevant CPD which may include a range of specialist clinical courses and/or working alongside specialist clinicians within relevant specialty. Practice placement qualification or training. Willingness to undertake appropriate agreed training in management/clinical skills as required.
Desirable
Experience as a Team Leader within relevant setting. Advanced knowledge of a broad range of conditions. Presentation and teaching skills within large group or classroom situation. Proven record of Health promotion, lifestyle choices and integration with external organisations. Experience in the use/provision of relevant specialist equipment. Experience in contribution to specialist/national/regional network groups. Experience of contribution to specialist training within university environment.
