About this role

Job summary

The Health Care Assistant will function as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the ward or department to provide a seamless service & high-quality care to patients under the support and direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

In this role you will be expected to undertake care to meet the needs of the patients under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, working within the Trust's policies, procedures and Trust Values and of the ward or department in a safe and person-centered environment for the treatment of patients whilst working collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Work effectively as part of the ward team, building and maintaining positive professional relationships while supporting qualified staff in the delivery and management of clinical care. Contribute to a standard of practice that promotes equality, dignity and respect for all patients, recognising and valuing individual beliefs, backgrounds and identities. Communicate relevant information promptly and accurately to appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity and safety of care. Provide support to patients and their relatives or carers as they adapt to the physical and emotional impact of illness or injury, offering reassurance and compassion throughout their care journey.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Short courses to undertake patient and clinical care duties, completion of a competency-based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational training level 3

Desirable

NVQ 3 - CARE CERTIFICATE

Knowledge and experience Essential

Good literacy demonstrated through minimal spelling, grammatical errors through the application and interview

Desirable

previous experience of working in health care setting

Good IT skills
