Section Supervisor - Nighttime Desk
Position Description: Supervises a section in a department that has institutional oversight responsibilities; coordinates activities of personnel and procedures to carry out departmental objectives according to established policies and procedures.

About the Department and/or College: Texas Tech University Libraries serve as a vital partner with students and faculty in their learning endeavors. The University Libraries' system comprises: (1) University Library, (2) Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library,(3) Architecture Library, and (4) Peters Family Legacy Library within the Student Enrichment Center. The University Library is a patent and trademark depository and is one of two regional depositories for U.S. government documents in Texas. The central focus of the Texas Tech University Libraries is to make available 3.72 million physical volumes, electronic resources, special collections and archives, and to offer services to students and faculty that enable academic and research success.
Major/Essential Functions: • Observes and schedules Nighttime Library Associate desk staff. • Approves timesheets for Library Associates. • Schedules and conducts regular meetings with Library Associates in coordination with Section Supervisor - Daytime Desk Staff to discuss new procedures and old issues. • Conducts annual evaluations of staff's performance. • Conducts desk-a-longs during spring, summer, and fall semesters. • Creates personal development plans for staff and provides timeline for completion. • Ensures that all nighttime staff maintain compliance with Access Services and Library policies. • Monitors Access Services email inbox. • Responsible for statistical tracking for Access Services using data from VisiCount, Occuspace, and LibInsight. • Participates in writing and updating Access Services policies and guides. • Submits End of Day Reports to Access Services Section Manager. • Serves as designated on-call supervisor on a rotating basis, providing leadership oversight and operational support every third Saturday.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in job related field plus three years experience related to the assigned area; OR a combination of education and/or related experience to equal seven years.
Preferred Qualifications: • Previous library experience. • Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems. • Ability to effectively manage time. • Previous experience dealing with difficult customers.

Pay Statement: Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
