Position Summary: This job is responsible for supporting data and technology requests, complex reporting and analysis, and modeling to manage risk and minimize credit and operating losses. Key responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing portfolio trends, supporting the development of more complex databases or queries to extract data, and supporting the production of data for internal and external reporting needs. Job expectations include working with Technology to implement changes necessary to support ongoing data needs. This role is designed for an analytical, curious professional who wants to build a career in credit risk management. The successful candidate will join the Enterprise Credit Risk team, part of the independent second line of defense, and help provide oversight of the Consumer Card, Deposits, and Balance Assist portfolios. Working alongside experienced risk managers, the candidate will develop an understanding of portfolio performance, credit strategy, emerging risks, risk management processes, and effective communication with business and risk partners. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to learn. The role offers broad exposure across the credit risk lifecycle and the opportunity to grow into a well-rounded risk manager who can translate complex information into clear insights and constructive challenge for first- and second-line partners and senior leaders. The role provides meaningful exposure to credit strategy, portfolio oversight, emerging-risk analysis, risk governance, cross-functional decision-making, and senior-level communication—creating a strong foundation for continued growth in credit risk management.

Responsibilities:

• Supports the development and execution of reporting to allow Risk and business partners to effectively identify and manage risk • Analyzes trends and supports the data design, portfolio trends, loss trends, and portfolio dynamics to ensure alignment with business strategies • Provides analytical support on various product strategic initiatives affecting multiple Risk functions and lines of business to ensure company goals are met • Participates in the development of database production processes and performance reports for senior management, using data mining and other advanced analytical techniques to aggregate data • Supports with responding to complex ad-hoc requests for information from both internal and external parties • Provides support on cross-functional efforts to remediate data quality issues • Monitors the outputs of controls and investigates alerts from the control checks • Identify and analyze new or emerging credit risks, with guidance from experienced risk managers. • Support the independent review and constructive challenge of proposed credit strategy changes. • Evaluate strategy and portfolio performance, identify key drivers, and highlight opportunities to manage risk and grow responsibly. • Help execute recurring credit risk management processes, including portfolio reviews, risk assessments, and governance routines. • Develop and maintain monitoring that measures credit risk performance and identifies emerging trends. • Synthesize analysis into clear insights, recommendations, and presentation materials for risk forums and senior stakeholders. • Partner with colleagues across Risk, Product, Finance, Compliance, and other functions to understand business decisions and their risk implications. • Build expertise in credit risk principles, portfolio management, and effective independent challenge through hands-on experience, coaching, and feedback.

Required Qualifications

• Relevant experience in financial services, risk, compliance, audit, finance, economics, data analytics, or a comparable discipline. • Experience with consumer or small business financial products, portfolio analytics, or credit risk concepts. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with data, identify patterns, and reach well-supported conclusions. • Experience using analytical tools such as SAS, SQL, or comparable technologies. • Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau. • Practical experience using AI-enabled tools, such as Microsoft Copilot or GitHub Copilot, to improve analytical or business processes. • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely in written, verbal, and visual formats, including preparing presentations or recommendations for management audiences. • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. • Curiosity, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a demonstrated willingness to learn. • Ability to manage multiple priorities, seek guidance when appropriate, and work collaboratively with a range of partners.
