Job Description Purpose Within the Organization: The purpose of the Campus Safety Student Guard position is to assist with GCU’s Public Safety department in an effort to keep the campus safe.
Responsibilities Related to Purpose:
• Direct traffic to different campus locations at booths. • Greet, ID, and decal check everyone coming onto campus. • Assist with other details as assigned by a Public Safety Supervisor or Manager. • Work a minimum of two shifts a week, up to 20 hours a week.
Shift Needs:
• Day Shift: 0530-1500; every day except Wednesdays. • Swing Shift: 1430-2100; every day except Wednesdays. • Night Shift: 2200-0230; Friday and Saturday nights only. • If your availability does not allow you to work two shifts, you may be terminated.
Qualifications:
• Criminal Justice Studies or ROTC students preferred. • Sophomores and upperclassmen preferred; freshmen will only be considered in special cases. • The ideal candidate will have a positive, friendly, and outgoing personality. • Customer service oriented. • Must be punctual. • Willingness to learn and able to follow procedures. • Responsible, trustworthy, approachable, and assertive. • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Requirements:
• Valid driver's license • Clean driving record
Education: Grand Canyon University is committed to a student-first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
• Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program. • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student. • Maintain good financial standing with the University. You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
Pay Rate: Minimum Wage Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2027
