About this role

Quadrus Corporation provides expert Multidisciplinary Engineering, Consulting, and Staff Augmentation to complex defense, space, and commercial projects. In business since 1995, we have served the US Army, NASA, school systems, nonprofits, and commercial customers with a solid track record of delivering requirements on time, on budget, and with zero defects.

Job Description:

Quadrus Corporation is seeking a motivated entry-level CNC Machinist (0–3 years of experience) to join our advanced manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you will set up and operate CNC milling machines, lathes, and wire EDM equipment using programs and instructions developed by our engineering organization to produce high-quality metal components that meet tight tolerances. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate, vocational program completer, or individual with limited experience who wants to build strong machining skills—including wire EDM—in a supportive, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC mills, lathes, and wire EDM machines to perform milling, turning, drilling, wire EDM, and other metal machining operations while following engineering-provided programs and maintaining required tolerances.

• Load and unload workpieces, install tooling, fixtures, and wire (for EDM), and make basic offsets or adjustments as directed to keep production running smoothly.

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to understand part requirements and machining sequences.

• Conduct in-process and final quality inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, and other gauges) to verify parts meet specifications; report any issues promptly.

• Perform routine machine maintenance, tool/wire changes, coolant or dielectric fluid checks, and general housekeeping to minimize downtime and maintain a safe, organized work area.

• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and senior machinists to support production goals, process improvements, and scrap reduction.

• Follow all safety protocols and actively participate in on-the-job training to develop proficiency as a CNC and wire EDM machinist.

Required Qualifications

• 0–3 years of hands-on experience in CNC machining, machine operation, wire EDM, or related manufacturing (recent graduates of machining or manufacturing technology programs are encouraged to apply).

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical certificate, vocational training, apprenticeship, or associate degree in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred.

• Basic ability (or demonstrated aptitude) to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

• Foundational mathematical skills and willingness to learn machining principles (speeds/feeds, material properties, tooling, and EDM processes).

• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, safety focus, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work under guidance, follow instructions accurately, and learn quickly in a shop environment.

• Reliable and coachable with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a CNC machining, machine tool technology, or manufacturing technology program.

• Some prior exposure to CNC mills, lathes, or wire EDM (Fanuc or similar controls a plus).

• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments.

• Introductory knowledge of GD&T or shop math.

Physical Requirements Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive bending, reaching, and gripping tasks in a manufacturing environment.

Other Requirements:

• Must be a U.S Citizen
