About this role
Quadrus Corporation provides expert Multidisciplinary Engineering, Consulting, and Staff Augmentation to complex defense, space, and commercial projects. In business since 1995, we have served the US Army, NASA, school systems, nonprofits, and commercial customers with a solid track record of delivering requirements on time, on budget, and with zero defects.
Job Description:
Quadrus Corporation is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer and Machinist to join our advanced manufacturing team. This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and supporting high-quality CNC programs using Mastercam, with strong integration of SolidWorks models and drawings. The ideal candidate will have a manufacturing engineering background and extensive hands-on programming experience across multi-axis mills and lathes. You will create efficient, reliable programs that enable the production of precision metal components while collaborating closely with engineers, machinists, and production personnel.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain CNC programs using Mastercam for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis mills and lathes, including toolpath creation, simulation, verification, and post-processing.
• Integrate SolidWorks CAD models and engineering drawings into the programming workflow to ensure accurate geometry translation, design-for-manufacturability feedback, and seamless data exchange between design and manufacturing.
• Analyze blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications to select optimal cutting tools, fixtures, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies for a variety of metals.
• Create and refine setup documentation, tool lists, and work instructions to support efficient machine setup and operation by machinists.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, design engineers, and shop-floor personnel to improve cycle times, reduce scrap, enhance process capability, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support program prove-out, first-article validation, and process troubleshooting as needed.
• Mentor junior team members on Mastercam best practices, programming standards, and efficient machining strategies.
• Maintain organized program libraries, revision control, and documentation in accordance with company standards.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field preferred (equivalent combination of education and extensive relevant experience will be considered).
• 3-10 years of progressive hands-on experience in CNC programming, with demonstrated proficiency in Mastercam (toolpath generation, simulation, verification, and post-processing).
• Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks and proven experience integrating SolidWorks models/drawings into the Mastercam programming process.
• Expert ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, GD&T, and engineering specifications.
• Solid understanding of machining principles, including speeds and feeds, material properties, tooling selection, fixturing, and multi-axis strategies.
• High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with engineering, production, and leadership teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience writing and implementing macros within CNC programs to improve efficiency, standardization, and automation.
• Familiarity with Fanuc controls and multi-axis machining of complex metal components.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing engineering or process engineering capacity.
• Knowledge of wire EDM programming or complementary processes a plus.
Physical Requirements While this is primarily a programming role, occasional time on the shop floor may be required. Must be able to stand for periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs as needed, and work safely in a manufacturing environment.
Other Requirements:
• Must be a U.S Citizen
