Your Company: A growing environmental consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Botanical Ecologist to join its team in Wiltshire. The organisation delivers ecological and environmental consultancy services across a wide range of development, infrastructure, and conservation projects throughout the UK. Your Role and Responsibilities: While in this position your duties may include, but are not limited to: Leading ecological surveys, site assessments, and monitoring programmes across a variety of development and environmental projectsManaging project delivery from initial scoping through to reporting, implementation, and post-development monitoringActing as client-facing lead on projects, maintaining strong professional relationships and providing trusted ecological adviceDelivering and supporting Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and integrating outcomes into development design and planning strategiesContributing to and reviewing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRAs), habitat management plans, and ecological reportsWorking under, or alongside, Natural England protected species licences, applying best practice in fieldwork and mitigation deliveryManaging project budgets, timelines, and financial performance to ensure efficient and profitable deliverySupporting staff management, mentoring junior ecologists, and contributing to team development and technical growthEnsuring high-quality technical outputs, including ecological reports and data interpretationUndertaking regular travel to project sites across the region and wider UKMaintaining accurate ecological records and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, guidance, and industry standardsContributing to continuous improvement of internal ecological processes and best practice standards What You Will Need to Apply: Minimum 4+ years’ experience operating at Senior Ecologist level within consultancyStrong background in ecological surveys, habitat assessment, and biodiversity monitoringDemonstrable client-facing experience, with confidence managing stakeholder relationshipsProven project management experience, including delivery from scoping to completionExperience in staff supervision or line management, including mentoring junior staffExperience managing or contributing to project budgets and financial controlStrong report writing and analytical skills, with experience producing high-quality technical ecological reportsGood understanding of BNG, EIAs, and ecological mitigation strategiesFull UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly for fieldworkNatural England Dormouse Licence (or other protected species licence experience)Experience in FISC Level 4+ (Field Identification Skills Certificate) or equivalent botanical expertiseExperience delivering or contributing to Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA)Additional protected species licence experience (e.g. bats, great crested newts)Experience working on complex multi-disciplinary infrastructure or planning projects What You Will Get in Return: This is a full-time permanent opportunity within a growing and forward-thinking environmental consultancy offering genuine career progression and leadership opportunities.
