About this role

Job Title: Paraprofessional Reports To: Early Childhood SPED Coordinator Contract Length: 190 days or Hourly (depends on need) SUMMARY: The Early Childhood Paraprofessional will provide support and work directly assisting identified students ages 3-5 to improve skills in specific areas related to the student's individual needs as stated in the IEP. This position is responsible for providing instructional and/or behavioral support to special education students in high needs programs under the direction of a licensed special education teacher. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide instructional support to students to special needs students.

• Provide behavioral support to special needs students.

• Prepare developmental appropriate materials for instruction to meet the needs of students with special needs.

• Collects and maintains data to document each child's progress when directed by a licensed teacher.

• Maintains confidentiality of children and turns in all student records when required.

• Uses technology in a meaningful manner to support student learning and services.

• Follows child care licensing regulations when in a classroom setting regulated by DHS.

• Follows NWAESC policies and procedures.

• Perform some routine clerical activities that support the program as needed.

• Assist with other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Complete background checks as directed by the ECC

• Ability to complete records accurately and timely.

• Maintain a good attendance record.

• Strong verbal and written skills

• Organizational skills, flexibility, and willing to transcend with current educational methodologies

• Past experience working with special education or preschool special education

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee will be required to lift heavy educational supplies and/or files daily inside and outside of sites. The employee will be required to travel daily to multiple sites with different types of weather conditions unless a district is closed due to inclement weather. The employee will be required to stand, sit, bend, or stoop for extended periods of time due to sitting in a student chair or sitting on the floor to provide services. The employee will be required at times to work with students in indoor and outdoor settings that require physical activity to model gross motor activities to improve gross motor progress.
