Athletic Trainer (Anticipated, One-Year, 2026-2027) Needed Location: Champlain Valley Union High School This position will remain open until filled. Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) seeks a certified Athletic Trainer (Anticipated, One-Year, 2026-2027) to join our activities team. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the safety, care, and treatment of our students—primarily those who participate in athletics. The Athletic Trainer is an integral component of our team who develops strong relationships with students, faculty/staff, and the larger community. Primary Responsibilities
• Organize and oversee the athletic training program, including maintaining student athletic records, health physicals, injury records, treatment logs, and medical referrals.
• Organize and maintain appropriate supplies, equipment, and inventory of the Athletic Training facilities.
• Assist in scheduling Athletic Trainer coverage for athletic events and support the development and monitoring of the Athletic Training budget.
• Serve as a consultant for the purchase and proper fitting of athletic equipment.
• Provide direct athletic training services, including attending home athletic events and playoff competitions.
• Evaluate and treat sports-related injuries for student-athletes as necessary.
• Assist the school nurse in the communication and delivery of medical information and services.
• Establish procedures for the proper care of injured athletes and communicate status updates to student-athletes, parents, and school personnel.
• Determine return-to-play status following an injury in coordination with physicians, parents, and coaches.
• Oversee the application of protective devices and provide training on First Aid, CPR, and injury prevention under the general supervision of the Director of Student Activities.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess
• Proper accreditation and certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC).
• Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, families, and healthcare providers.
• Excellent organizational skills for recordkeeping, inventory, and budget management.
• Strong communication skills and sound judgment in evaluating and managing student injury care.
• Commitment to keeping current on new and emerging practices within athletic training and maintaining professional licenses.
