QualificationsBasic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. OR EXPERIENCE: Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position to be filled. AND (in addition to the above) To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Evaluate the possible impact of a proposed bridge installation and recommend a course of action Able to evaluate current bridge configuration in order to make recommendations for changes OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal sector. Major DutiesYou will serve as a Bridge Management Specialist and be responsible for monitoring project priorities and program goals; meets work deadlines established by the District Bridge Manager; and provides guidance to the District Bridge Office personnel, other District staff, field units and federal, state, and local agencies in the policies, procedures and proper interpretation of the bridge program requirements and jurisdiction. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Conducts initial review of the bridge location, type, size and vertical and horizontal clearance proposed by bridge owners to ensure a reasonable unrestricted passage of vessels under bridges Makes initial review comments to the Draw Bridge Manager regarding request(s) for changes in drawbridge operation Conducts initial review of bridge owner's construction, demolition, maintenance, rehabilitation and other work (to include lighting) for impacts to navigation, ensuring compliance with navigation safety and security requirements Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application.
