QualificationsTo qualify at the GS-11 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Prioritizing urgency and response in search and rescue, law enforcement, maritime security, marine environmental response, and marine safety to ensure proper and timely response. Maintaining oversight over maritime response operational activities. Interpreting and applying regulations and procedural guidelines, covering search and rescue, law enforcement, intelligence, marine environmental response, maritime security, navigation, and environmental information, to operational situations. Dispatching appropriate response assets, as required, for maritime operations. Analyzing, researching, and interpreting maritime data in order to prepare written papers, reports, and electronic entry in to databases. Major DutiesYou will serve as a Command Center Watchstander and be responsible for maintaining information management, situational awareness, and command and control over all Coast Guard operations in the Sector area of responsibility.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Overseeing and monitoring the Sectors response to Search and Rescue (SAR) cases in order to minimize loss of life and property at sea. Developing search action plans while investigating and coordinating ongoing activities and operations within the Area of Responsibility (AOR). Providing command and control over Coast Guard assets in all maritime law enforcement operations within the Sector AOR. Overseeing responses to reported marine casualties (i.e. allusions, collisions, and grounding), ensuring proper notification, response, and documentation procedures are executed within SCC responsibilities. Analyzing and disseminating a variety of nautical data such as current, tides, weather (including wind and storm alerts, visibility, and water depth). Interacting with federal, state, and local government agencies while coordinating response to SAR, Law Enforcement, PWCS, MER, and other Coast Guard missions. Providing training and upholding qualification standards for members standing watch in the SCC. Briefing the Sector Commander and other members in key leadership positions regarding status of cases, intended actions, and recommendations. A. Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-I) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position.
