It is essential that the post-holder should hold the FRCR UK and be on the GMC specialist register or will obtain a relevant CCT within 6 months of interview.
This is a substantive Consultant Radiologist post at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. This is fully funded and new/replacement post required to cover the needs of an expanding Radiology Department.
The successful applicant will collaborate with existing colleagues to deliver and enhance a comprehensive diagnostic and interventional Radiology service supporting the imaging requirements of the Trust / Group and primary care services in the county.
The appointee will be part of a wider team of consultant radiologists who provide sub-specialty and general radiological services across the Trust / Group. The post will be primarily based at Northampton General Hospital. The post holder may be required to work cross site at Kettering General Hospital. If required, further speciality training can be provided on-site or by attendance at other centres.
The successful applicants will be expected to participate in diagnostic radiology reporting, attend multidisciplinary team meetings and participate in the interventional radiology on-call rota. Officespace with workstations and secretarial support will be provided.
Workstations for reporting from home are also usually provided. Participation in the teaching and training of radiology registrars,
resident doctors, medical students and radiographers is encouraged
Main duties of the job
All consultants undergo yearly job planning review and appraisal organised by the Trust. Revalidation is in accordance withGMC regulations.
The post starts as a 10PA per week contract including DCC, MDT, on-call and basic SPA. Whilst the job plan is represented with 10 PA allocation the integration of additional DCC and other interests by mutual agreement, will allow this to be increased up to a maximum of 12 PAs in line with NGH Trust policy. SPA allocation is a basic 1.5 PA for consultants with the possibility of increasing up to a further 1 PA with additional roles e.g. clinical leads, appraisal, educational supervision, teaching, research and management positions.
The post holder will contribute to the interventional radiology on-call rota on a 1:6 frequency.
All consultants are encouraged to attend the monthly consultants meeting, governance meetings. regular REALMsmeetings and the Medical Staff Committee meetings. Within the department there are subspecialty staff meetings. Allconsultants participate in relevant MDT meetings as part of their timetabled activity.
Consultants are expected to provide cover for colleagues who are absent on leave. The number of consultants who are onleave at any one time is governed by local agreement and six weeks notice of leave is expected.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
FRCR MRCP, MRCS or other professional or higher qualification Full registration with General Medical Council. On the GMC Specialist register for Clinical Radiology or eligible to be included on the Specialist Register within 6 months by achieving CCT / CESR.

Evidence of extensive training in Cross Sectional Radiology
Desirable
Evidence of sub-specialty training Post graduate experience and familiarity of UK NHS hospital system Experience of CT/US guided biopsy, MSK injections and other interventions. Experience of MDT
