Job summary Akari Care is seeking a passionate and caring Kitchen Assistant to join their team in Strood. This is a permanent position, offering a competitive salary of £12.76 per hour. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the care home's kitchen, providing high-quality meals and personalized care to the residents.
Main duties of the job As a Kitchen Assistant at Akari Care, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including menu creation, food preparation, plating, and ensuring that all kitchen processes run smoothly. You will work closely with the Cook and the wider catering team to provide a personalized and enjoyable dining experience for the residents. It is essential that you are mindful of individual religious and cultural backgrounds, and can cater to the diverse needs of the residents. The key focus will be on ensuring that mealtimes are a positive and enjoyable experience for all. We now seek an additional Kitchen / Catering Assistant who is passionate about, and thrives on, making a real and positive difference to the lives of older people.
Working in collaboration and unison with the Cook and the wider catering team you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient running of all kitchen processes. These will include creating menus, plating up, arranging trollies, and ensuring each of our residents feel directly supported and looked after with the highest quality of support and care.
Whilst you will be involved in all the practical duties you would expect in a busy care home kitchen it is vitally important to continuously ensure that you are mindful and conscious to individual religious and cultural backgrounds and how this might impact on meal choices, alongside making sure that all our residents feel they have a personalised service.
As the critical link between the kitchen and the serving areas you will be conjointly responsible for caring for our residents. The key focus for us is ensuring mealtimes run smoothly and are an enjoyable experience at Akari Care, where all our residents individual needs are catered for.

Kitchen and food preparation experience required.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
The successful candidate should have experience of working in a similar environment, with kitchen and food preparation experience. A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is required. Additionally, the candidate should possess a caring nature, be flexible and adaptable to changes, and have a warm and engaging persona. Respect for everyone and the ability to work well under pressure are also essential.
