Job summary

An exciting opportunity exists for aBand 6 Occupational Therapistto join the established CLCH Adult Learning Disability Service, spanning the London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster. Our multidisciplinary health serviceoperatesacross multiple sites within an integrated health and social care setting.

The successful candidate will manage a clinical caseload, carrying out assessments and delivering interventions to address the functional needs of people with learning disabilities across clinical, community and domiciliary settings.

You will report to the Highly Specialist Occupational Therapy Lead and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop services andmaintainstrong partnerships across health and social care.

We are seeking professionals who enjoy working in a close-knit MDT environment, using a variety of assessment and treatment techniques. We offer excellent opportunities for training, participation in projects, quality improvementinitiativesand clinical audit to support your career progression.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Practice:Manage a caseload and provide assessment,interventionand support for adults with learning disabilities across clinical, community, and home settings. Collaboration:Work within a multidisciplinary team and alongside health and social care partners to deliver integrated care. Service Development:Contribute to the development and improvement of the service through initiatives,projectsand quality improvement work. Autonomous Working:Work independently within the Learning Disability team whilemaintainingeffective communication and collaboration with colleagues. Professional Growth:Access regular supervision from an experienced Band 7 OT and benefit from support and guidance from the wider CLCH Learning Disabilities Team. Skills & Experience:Demonstratestrong communication, organisational and teamwork skills. Experience in paediatrics, neuro-disability or mental health isadvantageous.

Person Specification

Education/Qualification Essential

Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) State Registration (HCPC) Evidence of continual professional development

Desirable

Member of RCOT Clinical Supervisors/Educators Course Sensory integration training certificate

Experience Essential

Post qualifying experience at a band 5 level with substantial experience. Experience in following RCOT Standards to practice OT with children or adults with complex conditions and social circumstances. Post-qualification experience in practicing OT with children and/or adults with cognitive difficulties. Experience of current OT treatment techniques/models (e.g Moho, PEO). Experience in working with Service users' families and/or carers to support the delivery of OT. Experienced in adapting communication to meet the needs of individual service users, their families/carers and other professionals.

Desirable

Experience of working in a community setting. Experience in supervising staff and / or students. Experience in providing OT to people with neurological conditions. Experienced in providing Sensory Integration based interventions.

Skills Essential

Skills in the assessment and treatment of adults/children with complex functional difficulties and social circumstances. Ability to apply core OT skills across a range of clinical conditions within a client centred, goal setting approach. Skilled in keeping timely, well-written, and accurate clinical records. Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing to a wide audience including service users, their families and carers, other professionals and wider service providers, adapting communication style as required. Ability to problem solve and take appropriate decisions. Ability to understand when one is at the limit of one's knowledge and to seek support. Ability to use PC based formats e.g. Word, Powerpoint, Co-Pilot, MS Teams and Excel.

Desirable

Ability to supervise junior staff. Ability to organise in-service training and to present appropriate topics and information. Knowledge of research, clinical audit and quality improvement. Knowledge and understanding of RCOT and NICE Guidelines applicable to people with Learning disabilities. Skilled and knowledgeable in providing OT to people with neurological conditions. Skilled and knowledgeable in providing Sensory Integration based interventions. Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Safeguarding procedures.
