Job summary
Following significant investment to expand our workforce and meet growing service demands, we are excited to offer a number of newly created roles across our teams and are looking to appoint permanent Specialist Doctors in Anaesthetics.
We are seeking three Specialist Anaesthetists with a general interest.
Successful candidates will join a collaborative and forward-thinking department that delivers a wide range of anaesthetic services across our three main hospital sites. The successful Specialist will work independently alongside Consultant colleagues to provide the highest quality of care to all our patients. Special interests of the candidate will be developed and accommodated where possible.
All three sites are supported by a robust, accessible office managerial and secretarial service housed primarily at the Northwick Park site. Dedicated Anaesthetics/ Critical Care shared office space, IT equipment and support are available at each of the sites.
Theatre lists will be at either Ealing, Central Middlesex or Northwick Park sites.
Participation in a 1:9 weekend Trauma or Obstetric rota (prospective cover) may be required depending on service need.

Qualifications Essential
FRCA (or equivalent) or portfolio evidence mapped to RCoA curriculum
Desirable
Formal teaching or management qualification
Registration Essential
GMC Registered with no restrictions to practice.
Knowledge and Experience Essential
Minimum 12 years post-qualification, including at least 6 years in anaesthetics (SAS or equivalent) NHS experience within the last 3 years. Independent anaesthetic practice across varied specialties - ability to manage patients with complex care needs, whilst remaining aware of own limitations and seeking advice when needed. Logbook experience of paediatric experience sufficient to run a trauma list (minimum 2 years)

APLS/EPLS, ALS Subspecialty experience (trauma, regional, obstetric, paediatric) Logbook evidence of obstetric experience
Teaching Essential
Meets requirements to be a clinical supervisor. Experience in teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff.
Desirable
Simulation or educational qualification. Educational Supervisor experience.
Management and Audit Essential
Understands managerial, administrative and organisational roles within an acute NHS Trust. Understands the principles of quality improvement (QI) and audit. Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgement when faced with conflicting pressures. Ability to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives.
Desirable
Evidence of service design, QIP or leadership training. Knowledge of finance/budgets.
Research Essential
Ability to apply evidence-based practice. Ability to work within research governance procedures
Desirable
Training in research methodology and IT. Publications in peer review journals Presentations to learned societies.
Communication and Personal Attributes Essential
Excellent communication (written and spoken), teamwork and professionalism; commitment to CPD
Desirable
Experienced in electronic patient record records, eg CERNER
