About this role
Under the direction of the Manager of Plant Operations/Facilities, or his/her designee, the HVAC Mechanic Lead performs and coordinates the maintenance, repair, and operation of hospital mechanical systems, including HVAC, power distribution, emergency generators, medical gas systems, boilers, pumps, fire sprinkler systems, communications systems, and sewage and drainage systems. The HVAC Mechanic Lead serves as the lead technical resource for the department, providing day-to-day work coordination and guidance to maintenance staff, assisting in the organization and prioritization of work activities, and assigning preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and work orders based on operational needs, department priorities, and equipment requirements. The incumbent supports the timely completion of maintenance activities, orders parts and supplies, maintains appropriate documentation, and performs duties independently in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures.
EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent. Vocational training in related job fields. Must have the ability to read, write and understand English.
EXPERIENCE: 6 years experience in plant operations and maintenance required. Must possess knowledge and technical skills required for the repair and maintenance of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems, fixtures, devices, and applications. Must possess the technical knowledge and skill to perform minor carpentry work and repairs.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS: State of California Certification for handling of refrigerants preferred. Must maintain a current California Driver's License, HVAC Certification Required
