JOB SUMMARY:
The Urgent Orthopedics Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals presenting with acute musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. Working in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons and multidisciplinary team members, the APP evaluates, diagnoses, and manages patients in an urgent care or same-day orthopedic setting. This role emphasizes rapid assessment, treatment, and coordination of care to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours/week
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Care & Assessment
• Perform comprehensive evaluations of patients with acute orthopedic injuries and conditions.
• Order and interpret diagnostic imaging, laboratory studies, and other relevant tests.
• Diagnose musculoskeletal injuries including fractures, sprains, dislocations, ligament tears, and overuse injuries.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including non-operative management.
• Provide splinting, casting, bracing, joint aspirations/injections, and wound care as appropriate to scope of practice.
Collaboration & Coordination
• Work closely with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other healthcare providers.
• Coordinate referrals to surgical or specialty care as needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and referring providers regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
Patient Education & Advocacy
• Educate patients on injury prevention, post-treatment care, rehabilitation, and return-to-activity guidelines.
• Promote patient understanding of care plans to ensure adherence and optimal recovery.
Documentation & Compliance
• Complete timely and accurate medical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
EDUCATION:
• PA-C or CRNP degree and Pennsylvania license required.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner preferred.
• Current certification as an NP (AGACNP, FNP, or equivalent) by a nationally recognized body (AANP or ANCC) or Current NCCPA certification
• BLS certification required.
• Active prescriptive authority and DEA licensure.
• Ability to function independently as well as being a contributing member of the clinical team.
• Demonstrated time critical decision-making skills.
