Position Summary

The Wireline Specialist is responsible for ensuring that high-quality wireline logging data is acquired safely, efficiently, and at reasonable cost across HKN's operations in Iraq and Syria. Based in Erbil with regular travel to the Atrush, Sarsang, Miran, and Hamrin fields, and to operations in Syria, the role covers the full wireline service cycle from tendering and program planning through equipment coordination, operational supervision, and execution. The Wireline Specialist works closely with Drilling, Completions, Subsurface, and other operational teams to support the Company's growing well construction and intervention program.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead the tendering and technical evaluation of wireline logging service providers, ensuring competitive, fit-for-purpose contracts.

• Plan and prepare wireline logging programs for new wells, sidetracks, workovers, and well interventions.

• Coordinate equipment mobilization, service readiness, and logistics ahead of wireline operations across all HKN fields.

• Provide operational supervision of wireline logging jobs at the wellsite, ensuring safe and efficient execution.

• Review and quality-check acquired wireline logging data, ensuring it meets required technical and subsurface objectives.

• Coordinate closely with Drilling, Completions, Subsurface, and other relevant teams to align wireline activities with well and field objectives.

• Ensure all wireline operations are conducted in full compliance with HKN's HSE requirements and applicable company and industry standards.

• Monitor wireline service provider performance, addressing non-conformances and driving continuous improvement.

• Support cost control and budgeting for wireline activities, seeking efficiencies without compromising data quality or safety.

• Provide wireline operational support and coverage across Iraq assets and, as required, for the initial activities in Syria.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Drilling & Workover Team Lead consistent with the responsibilities of the role.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Petroleum Technology, or a related technical field.

• Minimum of 8 years' experience in wireline logging operations, including open-hole and cased-hole services.

• Strong working knowledge of wireline logging tools, techniques, and quality control procedures.

• Demonstrated experience tendering and managing third-party wireline service providers.

• Sound understanding of well control, rig operations, and HSE requirements associated with wireline activities.

• Willingness and ability to work on a 4/4 rotation, with regular travel across Iraq and to Syria.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to work with multicultural teams.

Preferred:

• Prior wireline experience with a major service company, in addition to operator-side experience.

• Experience supporting sidetrack, workover, and well intervention campaigns.

• Prior experience working in Iraq, Syria, or the broader Middle East region.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to travel frequently between the Erbil base office and field locations across Iraq and Syria, often on short notice.

• Ability to work on a 4/4 rotation, including extended periods at remote wellsite locations.

• Ability to wear required PPE and work on active rig floors and wellsites, including during night shifts and 24-hour operations as needed.
