About the Role: Teaching Artist

The Teaching Artist is responsible for providing engaging, person-centered instruction that uses the creative arts and recreation as a pathway for developing workforce, life, and community skills. Through visual arts, digital arts, theater, movement, and other creative practices, the Teaching Artist creates meaningful learning experiences that help participants develop pre-vocational skills including communication, collaboration, problem-solving, self-advocacy, independence, workplace readiness, and community participation. Instruction may be provided individually or in groups and is designed to build on each participant's interests, strengths, abilities, and individualized learning goals.

Qualifications:

• Associate or bachelor's degree in fine arts, visual arts, digital media, theater, dance, recreation, education, special education, human services, or a related field.

• Ability to teach, facilitate, or lead individuals or groups in a structured learning environment and demonstrate the ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that incorporate workforce, life, communication, social, and community skills.

• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or other support needs is preferred.

• At least 18 years of age.

• must have strong communication and documentation skills.

• Valid Florida driver's license
